Catching Smiles at the County Fair

One of the things that I love about living in Pleasanton is that the Fairgrounds are practically right around the corner from our home. They always seem to have neat things going on, and because we drive by almost every day, we see them setting up for these different events. Driving to the library one day, Kate happened to notice that the Ferris Wheel was up. "Mom!!! Look at that! When can we go on it?!!!" It's all I heard about for days. When the fair finally opened, my sister and I decided to take the kids and go. And what a fair it was! It had everything you might imagine a fair to have! Rides, baby animals, big animals, games, horse races, food, food and more food!

Enjoying a little shave ice

Jake was loving every minute of it!

And then the long awaited ferris wheel ride! $15 for the 3 of us to go on it. Ridiculous? Absolutely. When we found out how much the rides cost, we decided the kids could pick two things to go on. By the look on their faces, I think Kate and cousin Gracie made a good choice! We only had one little mishap at the very top of the ferris wheel of a flipflop flying off of a foot in all of the excitement. Barefoot or not, it didn't matter, they had a blast!

Almsot as good as the one at Disneyland :)

Ben decided he wanted to try riding the bull. There was a little bull for the little kids and a big bull for the big kids. Take a wild guess which one he wanted to try! He rode it for a while! I was impressed! Jake wanted to be just like Ben--thankfully his bull didn't move :)

Corn instead of sand... what a great idea!

There was a farm area for the little ones and guess which "station" was the biggest hit? Yep, the pooper scooper one. Of course it was all pretend, but we couldn't believe how much fun the girls were having in there!

What's a fair if you can't have funnel cake?! It was a necessity before we left. We all sat down at the picnic tables and enjoyed those deep fried heart attacks...Jake more than the rest of us! Suddenly a gust of wind came through and our plate with the left over morsels and powdered sugar went flying all over him. Classic. You've got to click on the picture for the full effect. It was a good day :)
